Milwaukee based blackened death metal horde Emblazoned has been around for fifteen years, but up until 2014 they’ve only released two EP’s and a demo. After gaining some forward momentum with their 2013 EP, The Living Magisterium, which was a short and fast punch to the gut, with fifteen minutes of high octane blackened death metal. While that EP was a diabolical good time, it was over far too quickly and only offered a brief glimpse into Emblazoned’s sound. The band’s death metal riffing with blackened touches has surely become more potent over their history and Emblazoned will likely become a more recognizable entity on the heels of this album. The slick production and instrumentation are solid, but Emblazoned are treading a well worn path with their style, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking. Fans of God Dethroned, Arkhon Infaustus and Panzerchrist should find plenty to delve into here, as this isn’t too far removed from the sounds of those bands. It’s a really solid blackened death metal album, but it’s nothing that hasn’t been done or heard before.
